Beech (Fagus Sylvatica)

Out of all hardwood species, beech (Fagus Sylvatica) is the one most widely spread in the Romanian Carpathian Mountains, belonging thus to the only unpolluted forest area in Europe. Its dense but mild and homogenous structure makes the Romanian beech suitable for any kind of processing. It can be bent and dried under best conditions, being excellent not only for mechanical processing, but also perfect for final finishings (solutions for surface treatments) FOREX has succeeded to bring out these natural characteristics of the Romanian beech wood, by using an adequate technology for log processing, consisting basically in the use of the band-saw.

FOREX has been an NHLA member since 2006, applying standard sorting criteria in lumber grading, according to NHLA rules.

Our main products are: lumber and semi-finished products.

For us, here at FOREX, beech is not only a source of life which we have come to treasure and respect over the years but, moreover, a member of our family we deal with every day. This is one of the reasons why we strongly support projects such as replanting trees, forest waste control and the attraction of new structural funds for building a sustainable infrastructure of the Romanian forest road net (a project thoroughly sustained by FOREX President, eng. Nicolae Tucunel, at the Scientific Conference within the INTERFORST International Trade Fair for Forestry and Forest Technology, which took place in Munich, from 14. – 18. of July 2010).
